Installing Windows

Run "setup.exe" file to start installation. After the compressed setup files have been extracted, the setup program will run automatically.

Once the setup program finishes extracting, the welcome screen appears. Click "Next" to continue.

The screen after the License Agreement will ask you to enter user information. Enter your name, company, and e-mail address. E-mail address is used for reporting server error messages from the DeepSearch server.

DeepSearch 4 offers a Default Indexer and Advanced Indexer. You can select both indexers or just one. You can click "Browse" to install in different directory. In Windows NT/2000, DeepSearch 4 might not run properly if installed in an unauthorized directory.

*Advanced Indexer
Search capabilities in Korean language are considerably improved. However, it requires additional 30MB of hard disk space.

*Default indexer
If you do not need to index Korean language, use only default indexer.

green02_next.gif Setting URL and Path information

The most important step in installing DeepSearch 4 is setting the right path and URL. Read the following information carefully and enter the appropriate values.

    Web server URL
    Enter the URL for the web server where DeepSearch 4 will be installed.
    For Example http://www.namo.com

    CGI URL
    The CGI URL is entered to execute a CGI program from a web browser. For example, if you are able to access a CGI program by entering the URL http://www.namo.com/cgi-bin/test.cgi, "cgi-bin" is the CGI URL. Keep in mind that if you are using ISP (Internet Server Provider) as your web server, the CGI URL will be "/~UserID/cgi-bin/"

    CGI Path
    The CGI path is the directory location used in a web server corresponding to the CGI URL. The default value for the CGI path is "C:/inetpub/cgi-bin" (when Microsoft IIS is used as the web server software). The CGI path may differ depending on web server setting.

    Resource URL
    Resource files are required for DeepSearch 4 to run properly. These are resources such as image files that will be displayed on the result page and script files for other features. You can specify the URL where these resource files are to be saved.

    Resource Path
    Specify the directory where the DeepSearch 4 resource files will be located.

Assign a password for the administrator and specify website URLs to be indexed.

Meta Search feature provides users with results from other major search engines as well. Check the box to use this feature.

green02_next.gif Choosing a Template Theme

Template enables users to change the design of result pages. You can change fonts, background color, etc. You can change to another theme after the installation. Choose a template theme you want and click "Next."

Check the settings you have selected and make sure they are correct. Click "Back" to correct any previous setting. Once all the settings have been selected properly, click "Next."

Click "Finish," and DeepSearch 4 will start. If you do not wish to use DeepSearch 4 right away, uncheck the box "Namo DeepSearch will start" and click "Finish." You can later start the DeepSearch 4 service manually using the Windows Start menu.

After you complete the installation, you will see the DeepSearch 4 icon in the system tray. If you right-click the icon, you will see the DeepSearch menu. If you double-click the icon, your web browser will start and open the Administrator page.
